6 Summer Activities for the Family
I cannot be any happier as I am when I say summer is right around the corner. This means all the outdoor activities we have been waiting for are FINALLY here! Now with kids, the summer activities we do are sometimes limited, but they are just as fun! That is why I created a list of six different activities you and your family can do this summer. Now start planning and make it a summer you won't forget!
1. GO TO THE FARM
The farm is not only a fun experience for kids, it can also be educational. Find a local farm or petting zoo and take your family to experience the real life animals you spend so much time making the noises of. Plan a day around riding horses and feeding chickens and the kids will love every second of it. It will be an eventful day and one that will produce awesome pictures!
2. GO ON A NATURE HIKE
As a mom, I know my kid would love to spend every second of every day outside exploring. An easy nature hike with some pretty waterfalls or flowers would be a dream for her. So plan a day hike where you can bring the dog and pack a lunch. Both your kids and you will be exhausted by the end of the day, an uninterrupted night of sleep is guaranteed.
3. GO TO A CARNIVAL
A day at a fair is something we all remember and loved as a kid. Find a local carnival coming nearest you and plan for a fun day. Go on those fun, old creaky rides we all secretly think are going to break and see those huge smiles on your kid's faces. Don't forget to get them a funnel cake so you can take that timeless picture!
4. GO CAMPING
Now, this is the perfect activity because it can be planned as a huge vacation or just a last-minute activity for the weekend. Camping is a great way to get your kids excited about new experiences. You can take them to the beach, desert, mountains or even just your backyard. Make smores and tell stories and connect with your family like you haven't before. You may be sore from sleeping on the ground, but it will be worth it.
5. THE CLASSIC WATER ACTIVITY
There are so many options of things to do that include water. Go to your local pool, go swimming in a lake, go to a splash pad, make a slip n' slide or even just fill up an inflatable pool! All of these things will keep your kids entertained. My favorite is to have a water fight at a park with your kids and their friends. Have them run around while you and the other moms sit in the shade with a diet coke. It will be a great day and you will get some girl time.
6. GO TO A BASEBALL GAME
This is a great family activity you can do that both you and your kids will love. Grab a couple of hot dogs and lemonades while you're there and teach your kids the art of the game. The atmosphere will get them excited and they will be smiling and laughing the entire time!
